Auxiliary Verb: "Shall"
'Shall' का प्रयोग

Offers, Suggestions, and Formal Future.

Concept: Historically, "Shall" was used for the Future Tense with "I" and "We".
Today, it is mostly used to make polite Offers or Suggestions.
(Shall का प्रयोग अब ज्यादातर प्रस्ताव या सुझाव देने के लिए होता है, जैसे: "Shall I help?")

1. Offers & Suggestions (Most Common Use)

We use "Shall" in questions with I and We to ask if we should do something.

Type Sentence Hindi Meaning
Offer Shall I open the door? क्या मैं दरवाजा खोल दूँ?
Offer Shall I bring some water? क्या मैं थोड़ा पानी लाऊँ?
Suggestion Shall we go now? क्या हम अब चलें?
Suggestion Shall we dance? क्या हम डांस करें?

2. Formal Future Tense

In very formal or old-fashioned English, "Shall" is used instead of "Will" for I and We.

3. Official Rules & Commands

Used in legal documents or strict rules to indicate a command for 3rd person.

Will (Standard) Shall (Polite Offer)
I will help you. (Statement/Promise) Shall I help you? (Asking if you want help)
We will go. (We are going) Shall we go? (Is it time to go?)
