Verbs (The Heart of a Sentence)

Action, State, and Possession words.

Definition: A Verb is a word that shows an action (doing something) or a state of being (existence). Every sentence must have a verb.

1. Action Verbs (कार्य करना)

These show physical or mental actions.

Verb Sentence Hindi Meaning
Play Children play. बच्चे खेलते हैं।
Sleep He sleeps. वह सोता है।
Think I think. मैं सोचता हूँ। (Mental action)

2. State of Being (होना - Is/Am/Are)

These verbs do not show action, but tell us who or what the subject is.

3. Possession Verbs (पास होना - Has/Have)

These show ownership or possession.
