Past Tense for Singular Subjects (I, He, She, It).

Concept: "Was" is used for the Past Tense. It is used ONLY with Singular Subjects (He, She, It) and the subject "I".
(Was का प्रयोग 'I' और एकवचन कर्ता के साथ भूतकाल में होता है।)

1. Simple Past (State/Identity)

Used to describe who or how someone was in the past.

English Sentence Hindi Meaning
I was happy. मैं खुश था।
He was a teacher. वह एक शिक्षक था।
She was sad yesterday. वह कल उदास थी।

2. Past Continuous (Action in Past)

Used when a singular subject was doing an action in the past.

Formula: Subject (Singular/I) + was + Verb(ing)

English Sentence Hindi Meaning
I was sleeping. मैं सो रहा था।
He was running. वह दौड़ रहा था।
It was raining. बारिश हो रही थी।

Difference: Was vs Were

Was (Singular + I) Were (Plural - We, You, They)
I was there. We were there.
He was playing. You were playing.
