'Had' का प्रयोग

Past Possession and Past Perfect Tense.

Concept: "Had" is the past form of Have/Has. It is used with ALL subjects (Singular & Plural) to show possession in the past or actions completed before a past time.
("Had" का प्रयोग भूतकाल में 'पास था' या कोई काम 'चुका था' बताने के लिए होता है।)

1. Possession in Past (पास था)

Used to say you owned something in the past.

English Sentence Hindi Meaning
I had a car. मेरे पास एक कार थी।
She had a doubt. उसे एक शक था।
We had many friends. हमारे बहुत दोस्त थे।

2. Past Perfect Tense (चुका था)

Used for an action that was completed before another action in the past.

Formula: Subject + Had + V3 (3rd Form)

English Sentence Hindi Meaning
The train had left. ट्रेन जा चुकी थी
I had eaten food. मैं खाना खा चुका था
He had forgotten me. वह मुझे भूल गया था

3. Had To (Compulsion in Past)

Used when you were forced to do something in the past (ना था / पड़ा).

English Sentence Hindi Meaning
I had to go. मुझे जाना पड़ा (या जाना था)।
She had to cook. उसे खाना पकाना पड़ा

Difference: Have vs Had

Have / Has (Present) Had (Past)
I have a pen. (Now) I had a pen. (Before)
She has eaten. (Just now) She had eaten. (Long ago/Before something else)
