Possessive Nouns
अधिकारवाचक संज्ञा

Using 's to show ownership.

Definition: Possessive nouns are used to show that something belongs to someone or implies a relationship.
(जब हमें बताना हो कि कोई चीज़ किसकी है, तो हम Possessive Noun का प्रयोग करते हैं।)

1. Singular Nouns (Add 's)

If the noun is singular (one person), add an apostrophe and s ('s).

Example Hindi Meaning
The boy's bag. लड़के का बैग।
Rahul's car. राहुल की गाड़ी।
My mom's phone. मेरी माँ का फोन।

2. Plural Nouns ending in "s" (Add only ')

If the noun is plural and already ends in "s", just add an apostrophe (') at the end. Do NOT add another 's'.

Example Hindi Meaning
The boys' school. लड़कों का स्कूल। (Many boys)
The teachers' room. शिक्षकों का कमरा। (Many teachers)
My parents' house. मेरे माता-पिता का घर।

3. Plural Nouns NOT ending in "s" (Add 's)

If the plural noun does not end in "s" (Irregular plural), treat it like a singular noun and add 's.

Example Hindi Meaning
Children's park. बच्चों का पार्क।
Men's wear. पुरुषों के कपड़े।
Women's college. महिलाओं का कॉलेज।

4. Non-Living Things (Using "Of")

We generally do not use 's with non-living things. Use "of" instead.

Exception: We use 's for Time, Distance, and Weight (e.g., A day's leave, A kilometer's distance).
