The Fisherman and the Golden Fish
(मछुआरा और सुनहरी मछली)

Once upon a time, there was an old fisherman. एक समय की बात है, एक बूढ़ा मछुआरा था। His name was Ramu. उसका नाम रामू था। He lived with his wife in a small hut. वह अपनी पत्नी के साथ एक छोटी सी झोपड़ी में रहता था। The hut was made of mud and straw. झोपड़ी मिट्टी और भूसे की बनी थी। It was very old and broken. यह बहुत पुरानी और टूटी हुई थी। Ramu was very poor but honest. रामू बहुत गरीब था लेकिन ईमानदार था। Every day, he went to the sea. हर दिन, वह समुद्र पर जाता था। He threw his net into the blue water. वह अपना जाल नीले पानी में फेंकता था। Sometimes he caught many fish. कभी-कभी वह बहुत सारी मछलियाँ पकड़ता था। Sometimes he caught nothing at all. कभी-कभी वह कुछ भी नहीं पकड़ पाता था। His wife was very greedy. उसकी पत्नी बहुत लालची थी। She always complained about their life. वह हमेशा उनके जीवन के बारे में शिकायत करती थी। She wanted money and good clothes. वह पैसा और अच्छे कपड़े चाहती थी। Ramu listened to her silently. रामू उसे चुपचाप सुनता था। He did not argue with her. वह उससे बहस नहीं करता था।

"जाओ और खुशी से जियो," रामू ने कहा। The fish thanked him and swam away. मछली ने उसे धन्यवाद दिया और तैरकर दूर चली गई।

Ramu went back home empty-handed. रामू खाली हाथ घर वापस गया। He told his wife everything. उसने अपनी पत्नी को सब कुछ बताया। His wife became very angry. उसकी पत्नी बहुत क्रोधित हो गई। She shouted at him loudly. वह उस पर जोर से चिल्लाई। "You are a fool!" she screamed. "तुम मूर्ख हो!" वह चिल्लाई। "You caught a magical fish and let it go?" "तुमने एक जादुई मछली पकड़ी और उसे जाने दिया?" "Look at our broken hut." "हमारी टूटी हुई झोपड़ी को देखो।" "Go back and ask for a new house." "वापस जाओ और एक नया घर मांगो।" Ramu did not want to go. रामू जाना नहीं चाहता था। But he was afraid of his wife. लेकिन वह अपनी पत्नी से डरता था। He walked back to the sea slowly. वह धीरे-धीरे समुद्र की ओर वापस चला गया। The water was green and calm. पानी हरा और शांत था। He called out to the fish. उसने मछली को पुकारा। "Oh Fish, please hear me!" Ramu went back to his home. रामू अपने घर वापस गया। He saw a beautiful new house. उसने एक सुंदर नया घर देखा। It had a strong roof and big windows. इसकी छत मजबूत थी और बड़ी खिड़कियां थीं। His wife was sitting on the porch. उसकी पत्नी बरामदे में बैठी थी। She looked happy for a moment. वह एक पल के लिए खुश दिखी। But her greed was not satisfied. लेकिन उसका लालच संतुष्ट नहीं हुआ। A week later, she started complaining again. एक हफ्ते बाद, उसने फिर से शिकायत करना शुरू कर दिया। "This house is too small," she said. "यह घर बहुत छोटा है," उसने कहा। "I want to be a rich lady." "मैं एक अमीर महिला बनना चाहती हूँ।" "Go to the fish again." "फिर से मछली के पास जाओ।" "Ask for a big palace." "एक बड़ा महल मांगो।" Ramu was very sad. रामू बहुत दुखी था। He went to the sea again. वह फिर से समुद्र पर गया। The water was now dark blue. पानी अब गहरा नीला था। He called the fish again. उसने फिर से मछली को बुलाया। The fish came to the surface. मछली सतह पर आ गई। Ramu explained his wife's wish. रामू ने अपनी पत्नी की इच्छा बताई। "Go home," said the fish. Ramu returned and saw a grand palace. रामू लौटा और एक भव्य महल देखा। There were gardens and servants everywhere. हर जगह बगीचे और नौकर थे। His wife wore expensive silk clothes. उसकी पत्नी ने महंगे रेशमी कपड़े पहने थे। She treated Ramu like a servant. वह रामू के साथ नौकर की तरह व्यवहार करती थी। A few weeks passed by. कुछ सप्ताह बीत गए। She became bored with the palace. वह महल से ऊब गई। She called Ramu to her room. उसने रामू को अपने कमरे में बुलाया। "I want to be the Queen of this land," she ordered. She sat on a golden throne. वह सोने के सिंहासन पर बैठी थी। Soldiers stood around her. सैनिक उसके चारों ओर खड़े थे। But her greed had no limit. लेकिन उसके लालच की कोई सीमा नहीं थी। One morning, she saw the sun rising. एक सुबह, उसने सूरज को उगते हुए देखा। The sun was bright and hot. सूरज चमकीला और गर्म था। She became angry at the sun. उसे सूरज पर गुस्सा आ गया। "Why does the sun not obey me?" she shouted. "अब वह क्या चाहती है?" मछली ने गुस्से से पूछा। Ramu whispered his wife's wish. रामू ने अपनी पत्नी की इच्छा धीरे से बताई। The fish did not say a word. मछली ने एक शब्द भी नहीं कहा। It splashed its tail on the water. उसने अपनी पूंछ पानी पर मारी। It dove deep into the ocean. यह समुद्र में गहरे गोता लगा गई। Ramu waited, but the fish did not return. रामू ने इंतजार किया, लेकिन मछली वापस नहीं आई। The storm stopped suddenly. तूफान अचानक थम गया। Ramu walked back home tiredly. रामू थका हुआ घर वापस चला गया। When he reached, the palace was gone. जब वह पहुँचा, तो महल जा चुका था। The guards and servants were gone. रक्षक और नौकर जा चुके थे। There stood his old broken mud hut. वहाँ उसकी पुरानी टूटी हुई मिट्टी की झोपड़ी खड़ी थी। His wife was sitting outside in her old clothes. उसकी पत्नी अपने पुराने कपड़ों में बाहर बैठी थी। She was crying bitterly. वह फूट-फूट कर रो रही थी। They had lost everything because of greed. लालच के कारण उन्होंने सब कुछ खो दिया था। Ramu sat beside her and sighed. रामू उसके पास बैठ गया और आह भरी। They had to work hard again for their bread. उन्हें अपनी रोटी के लिए फिर से कड़ी मेहनत करनी पड़ी। But they learned a lesson they never forgot. लेकिन उन्होंने एक ऐसा सबक सीखा जो वे कभी नहीं भूले।
