The Shepherd Boy and the Wolf
(चरवाहा लड़का और भेड़िया)

Once upon a time, there lived a shepherd boy. एक समय की बात है, एक चरवाहा लड़का रहता था। His name was Raju. उसका नाम राजू था। He lived in a small village near a forest. वह जंगल के पास एक छोटे से गाँव में रहता था। The village was at the foot of a hill. गाँव एक पहाड़ी की तलहटी में था। Raju had a daily job to do. राजू का एक दैनिक काम था। He had to take the sheep to the hill. उसे भेड़ों को पहाड़ी पर ले जाना होता था। The sheep ate grass there all day long. भेड़ें वहां दिन भर घास खाती थीं। Raju had to watch them carefully. राजू को उन पर कड़ी नजर रखनी पड़ती थी। He had to protect them from wild animals. उसे जंगली जानवरों से उनकी रक्षा करनी थी। The forest nearby was dark and dangerous. पास का जंगल अंधेरा और खतरनाक था। Wolves lived in that forest. उस जंगल में भेड़िये रहते थे। So, Raju had to be very alert. इसलिए, राजू को बहुत सतर्क रहना पड़ता था। He went there every morning at sunrise. वह हर सुबह सूर्योदय के समय वहां जाता था। He returned only when the sun went down. वह तभी लौटता था जब सूरज ढल जाता था।

Raju screamed with all his might. राजू अपनी पूरी ताकत से चीखा। "Wolf! Wolf! It is real!" he cried. "भेड़िया! भेड़िया! यह सच है!" वह रोया। "Please help me! Save the sheep!" Raju watched helplessly in horror. राजू असहाय होकर दहशत में देखता रहा। The wolf killed many of his sheep. भेड़िये ने उसकी कई भेड़ों को मार डाला। Then the wolf chased Raju. फिर भेड़िये ने राजू का पीछा किया। Raju climbed up a tree to save himself. राजू खुद को बचाने के लिए एक पेड़ पर चढ़ गया। He sat there shivering all night. वह पूरी रात वहीं कांपता रहा। In the morning, the villagers came. सुबह ग्रामीण आए। They saw the dead sheep everywhere. उन्होंने हर जगह मृत भेड़ें देखीं। They saw Raju crying on the tree. उन्होंने राजू को पेड़ पर रोते हुए देखा। "Why didn't you come?" asked Raju sobbing. "तुम क्यों नहीं आए?" राजू ने सिसकते हुए पूछा। "I cried for help so many times." "मैं मदद के लिए इतनी बार रोया।" The old man spoke sternly. बूढ़े आदमी ने सख्ती से कहा। "This is your fault, my boy," he said. "यह तुम्हारी गलती है, मेरे लड़के," उसने कहा। "A liar is not believed even when he speaks the truth." "एक झूठे पर तब भी विश्वास नहीं किया जाता जब वह सच बोलता है।" Raju understood his terrible mistake. राजू अपनी भयानक गलती समझ गया। He promised never to lie again. उसने फिर कभी झूठ न बोलने का वादा किया। But he had lost his sheep forever. लेकिन उसने अपनी भेड़ें हमेशा के लिए खो दी थीं।
